School Counselor Certification Programme


A dedicated program for school counselors for college counseling and career readiness


The School Counselor Certification is a community-driven program established by ACT Global Solutions, Cialfo Pte Ltd, TopSchools, and a network of counselors to equip and certify school counselors, with the essential skills and knowledge to provide career and college guidance to their students. 


Introduction 


Date:  30th April 2020 to 29th June 2020

Format: Online Training (1 mandatory lesson per week)

Who can apply: School counselors or staff member of a school ONLY; Suitable for counselors or staff with 1-3years of counseling experience


Key Objectives 


  1. To equip and certify school counselors of various academic systems and level of experiences with essential skills and knowledge

  2. Allow veteran and respected international and local school counselors to share contextualized experiences

  3. Provide essential resources and materials for creating a basic counseling curriculum


What you will obtain? 


  • Receive first-hand tips and insights from veteran and respected international and local school counselors 

  • Online assignment & assessments with feedback 

  • A library of online resources to access over the period of 1 year

  • Certificate of Completion -《SCHOOL COUNSELOR CERTIFICATION》


 Graduation requirement 


Fulfillment of the completion requirements of at least 6 out of the 8 Mandatory Sessions

 (Attendance and any assignment provided; each session would have respectively specified completion requirements)

    Wang, Shi (Shiny) serves as the Assistant to Principal at Tsinghua University High School and Director of College Counseling, Academic Consultant of Tsinglan School, former Vice Principal of Beijing Kaiwen Academy.     Ms. Cheng Xiaofeng (Della), is Assistant of School Vice Principal and Director of College Counseling Office of Ningbo Foreign Language School in southeastern China. As a member of IACAC, NACAC, CIS and CIS EARCOS, Della has immersed herself in the profession of college counseling and education management, particularly in international programs of China’s public high schools, for over 15 years. She has participated in International ACAC since 2012 and now works as the committee member for Mentor Committee, the committee of Events & Communication of China Institute of College Admission Counseling, and recently she is selected to be a member of International Advisory Committee of the Collegeboard. She has been invited to speak in many national and international conferences, including AP China Summit, ISCS by TopSchool, CIS Forum, CIS-EARCOS, and Sino-US Education Symposium. With 27 AP subjects combined with the reformed Xuekao Chinese high school curriculum, NBFLS is currently running the most comprehensive AP program as well as a school-based counseling program in China.

Aileen previously served as Deputy Head of School (Strategic Management and Operations) at The Affiliated High School of Peking University’s Dalton Academy, in addition to Director of College Counseling, Head of Admissions & Development. During her six years in Beijing, Aileen was able to initiate the Beijing Western Consortium to assist college counselors in working together across the city, sharing resources to better support the differing school communities. Originally from Canada, Carolyn has lived and worked in the Netherlands since 2005.

    Tim is a former international school counselor and teacher, having worked in the US, China, the UAE, and Poland. He served as the School Counselor Representative for Europe, Middle East and Africa Committee for CIS (Council for International School) between 2015-2020, and furthermore as a Communications Committee member of International ACAC between 2012-2014. Prior to joining Cialfo, Tim was a High School Counselor at American School of Warsaw for over 4 years, and at the American Community School of Abu Dhabi for close to 7 years. He grew up as a Third Culture Kid living in Japan and Malaysia. He is the proud father of a current university freshman.
