Xi Chen, Staff Researcher from Baidu USA plays the role of tech lead in the Vidpress project. He's been leading the design and development of the overall architecture and many of the core algorithms in this AI video generation project since the inception of it, and transformed this research-oriented subject into a commercial online service. He used to be part of Baidu's Paddlepaddle deep learning framework team, in direction of distributed computing, and participated in the imitation learning research project.

Fangjun Pu received the B.S. degree from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2012 and the M.S. degree from University of Southern California in 2014. She currently works as Senior Researcher of CEG Imaging Applied Research at Dolby Laboratories, Inc. Her research interest includes image/video processing and compression. She has research experience in conversion and coding practices for HDR/WCG video. She has been actively involved in MPEG/JVET video coding related standardizations and development of the next generation of video codec (VVC). She contributed in Luma Mapping and Chroma Scaling (LMCS) encoder algorithm design, Chroma Quantization Parameter (Qpc) table signaling, Pre-/Post-processing software implementation for Shutter Interval SEI messages, etc.

Thomas Stockhammer received the Dipl.-Ing. and Dr.-Ing. degrees from the Munich University of Technology, Munich, Germany. Thomas was Visiting Researcher at Rensselear Politechnical Institute (RPI), Troy, NY, USA and University of California San Diego (UCSD), San Diego, CA, USA. After acting as cofounder and CEO of Novel Mobile Radio (NoMoR) Research for 10 years and a consultant for Siemens mobile, BenQ mobile, LG Electronics and Digital Fountain, he joined Qualcomm in 2014 as Director Technical Standards. In his different roles, he co-authored more than 200 research publications and more than 150 patents and 1000s of contributions to standardization efforts. In his day job, he is the active and has leadership and rapporteur positions in 3GPP, DVB, MPEG, IETF, ATSC, CTA, ETSI and the DASH-Industry Forum in the area of multimedia communication, TV-distribution, content delivery protocols, immersive media representation and adaptive streaming. Among others, he leads the MPEG-I and Scene Description efforts in MPEG, he is the chair of the DASH-IF Technical working group, the rapporteur of the first completed 3GPP VR (Rel-15) and the first completed 3GPP XR (Rel-16) as well as the chairman of the DVB over 5G activity. Thomas also received the INCITS Technical Excellence Award 2013 for his MPEG DASH work, the 3GPP Excellence Ward 2017 for his work on Enhanced TV and the CTA Technology & Standards Achievement Award 2019 for his work on CTA WAVE Device Playback specification. Thomas is a regular speaker at events such as IBC, DVB World, Mile High Video, Media Web Symposium or EBU’s BroadThinking.

Fei is an ex-Googler and now is Co-founder, Chief Architect in Vistring. He is an expert in cloud architect and high resolution videos processing. He is in charge of high resolution video cloud and high resolution video processing pipeline, including transcoding, transmission and rendering. He research and developed the 12K VR video processing pipeline and up-to 8K video processing and rendering pipeline on ordinary devices, including smart phones.

Dr. Wei Chu has nearly 20 years of high ROI speech R&D experiences. He is now serving as Speech Research Scientist and Technical Leader at PingAn Technology Silicon Valley Research Labs. He is in charge of speech recognition service for TOEFL test takers and English speech assessment service for adult and children learners in PingAn educational product lines. Prior to joining PingAn, Dr. Wei Chu was in charge of speech R&D at Liulishuo, Snapchat, Sony Playstation, Intel PCCG and other startups. He has more than 20 first-authored papers and patents. He received his PhD degree from EE Dept. at UCLA.

Dr. Qifei Wang, a senior research software engineer from Google Research focusing on on-device machine perception research and system development. His work has been adopted by many Google massive user products including Android Camera, Google Lens, Android ML Kit, etc. Before joining Google, he received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Control Engineering and Science in the Department of Automation, Tsinghua University. The thesis is about 3D video compression and transmission. He also worked as an associate researcher in Microsoft Research Asia and Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in University of California, Berkeley. His current research interests include the cutting-edge research for on-device computer vision and machine learning as well as building the efficient machine learning framework for mobile applications.

Kai Zeng is the Co-Founder and Lead Researcher of SSIMWAVE Inc., a world leading video tech company taking full advantage of viewer intelligence to deliver the ultimate viewing experience to any screen, anywhere, anytime. He got his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Waterloo in 2013, with primary focus on video quality-of-experience evaluation and enhancement. Prior SSIMWAVE, he was a research intern at Blackberry, former Research in Motion, contributing to High Efficient Video Coding (H.265/HEVC) standard. Besides the R&D responsibilities at SSIMWAVE, his research interests include image and video processing, quality assessment, and perceptual coding.

Ally Yong is the Sales Engineer for the APAC region of Bitmovin. Having been in the video streaming industry since 2012, she has always been involved in the video encoding domain. Prior to Bitmovin, she was responsible for the pre-sales role for the APAC region in Amazon Web Services for the Media Services product line.

Will Law is Chief Architect within the Media & Carrier division at Akamai and a leading media delivery technologist. Involved with streaming media on the Internet for the last 19 years, he has a strong focus on client-side development and wrote many of the early connection frameworks. Currently focusing on low latency streaming, MPEG DASH, technology evaluation, UHD distribution, VR delivery, CMAF, WebTransport and multi-bitrate switching. Law is currently Chairman of the CTA WAVE Project, Co-Chair of the W3C WebTransport Working Group and past President of the DASH Industry Forum. He holds Masters degrees in Aerospace Engineering and an MBA and has worked previously for Adobe, Internap and a series of five engineering and media-related startups.

Daniel Zhou is a technical director and software architect of Netint, which has recently established itself as a leading force in ASIC-based cloud video solutions. Daniel started his career in Huawei and once served as vice general manager of Huawei’s multimedia service department leading the development of China’s first video conferencing system. Daniel then joined Xinwei to develop SCDMA-based wireless communication system (CDMA450), and once served as general manager of Xinwei’s R&D department. Later, Daniel emigrated to Canada and rebooted his career and worked in Broadcom and Radisys as software engineer before joining Netint.

Ben is Vice President of Engineering at Wowza Media Systems.He has been working in the video field since 2011, and has specialized in the design and leading the implementation of Live, Video on Demand, and Cloud DVR systems. He is very interested in encoding technology and enjoy working with video and audio compression as well as delivery systems that can deliver audio and video at scale. His talk is about scaling Low-Latency HLS, an area of particular interest to him, as they have implemented this standard in the Wowza Streaming Engine media server.

Sam has a background in CS & Robotics from Columbia, and has several papers in the field of autonomous path planning for robotic surgery. He holds a US patent (for Vectorly's technology), and is fluent in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.Vectorly's technology uses computer vision and vector graphics to compress cartoon and screen video content by an order of magnitude while improving quality.
