German-Chinese Relations after the inauguration of the traffic light coalition in Berlin
The sixteen years of Angela Merkel’s tenure were marked by a sense of continuity and stability which helped reaffirm Germany’s position in the center of the European Union. Through most of that period, the same applied to Germany’s relations to China. Will the new, so-called “traffic light coalition” bring about changes in the previously steady relationship of the two nations? Consul General Pit Heltmann will shed a light on what has transpired before and after the new German government took office on Dec. 8, 2021.
