Companies are increasingly expected to monitor their operations to minimize risks and ensure responsible supply chains. As part of its broader trade strategy, US customs authorities have recently put into force the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA), thereby creating new requirements for companies importing goods into the US that have been manufactured wholly or in part in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Meanwhile, the EU is considering its own proposal on corporate sustainability due diligence – the EU Due Diligence Directive. Navigating the various legal regimes poses a challenge for companies.
Join us on Wednesday, August 31, for a virtual briefing featuring a team of experts from Steptoe & Johnson LLP in Washington and Brussels. They will provide a practical overview of recent developments in the due diligence area, discuss enforcement trends, offer compliance tips, and answer questions from the audience.
