In 1984, Volkswagen has undergone a Joint Venture with SAIC in Shanghai. Since then, SAIC VOLKSWAGEN (SVW) has strived to develop unique car models, while constantly adapting to the changing demands of the Chinese market.
We invite all those who are interested in the automotive industry to join us on this site visit to experience the SVW newly built factory - designed specifically for MEB (Modular Electric Drive Matrix) production worldwide. This is a unique opportunity to take a tour "behind the scenes", allowing participants to have a firsthand look at the passenger cars being put together and to discuss the future of the Chinese car market with experts from SVW.
Background: SVW's new factory is the first factory designed specifically for their worldwide MEB production. The new plant has been put into operation in October 2020 and has an annual production capacity of 300,000 units. In terms of intelligent manufacturing, the plant uses over 1,400 industrial robots and applies cutting-edge manufacturing technology on a large scale to realize intelligent and digitalized processes.
In terms of energy conservation and environmental protection, 28 new environmental friendly and energy-saving technologies were adopted, subsequently decreasing the five key environmental indicators - energy, water, carbon dioxide, volatile organic compounds and waste - by 20 percent. The MEB platform is compatible with real-time updated software and hardware, providing users with a more comprehensive intelligent networking experience.
