About this Conversation

Join current Schwarzman Scholars Paulina and Sharmaine to discuss the Chinese miliary and other defense related issues with Gen Yao Yunzhu. Among the highest-ranking women in the Chinese military, she joined the PLA in 1970, and since then, she has published extensively on international military and security issues. She is Director Emeritus of the Centre on China-American Defense Relations and a prominent analyst on nuclear, arms control and Asia-Pacific issues. She will share her insights and perspectives from her extensive career as a soldier and scholar.

A one-hour moderated conversation with our distinguished guest speaker will be followed by an open Q&A with audience members.

Who can attend this event?

This event is open to currently enrolled Tsinghua University students, both undergraduate and graduate, as well as current Tsinghua University faculty and staff. This event has 150 seats open for Tsinghua University classmates and colleagues.

What is required to join this event?
All guests must present a valid registration from this website (Bag Event 百格活动）as well as a valid Tsinghua University ID Card in order to access Schwarzman College for this event.

Entering and Exiting the Schwarzman College

Registered attendees can enter Schwarzman College 30 minutes before the session begins. For this session, doors open at 6:30 pm. No attendees will be admitted after 7:25 pm.

Following the conclusion of this event, Schwarzman College is closed to visitors as it is a residential building (student dorm). We ask that all Tsinghua classmates and colleagues who join us for the session exit the building when our session concludes at around 8:15 pm. All guests' cooperation is greatly appreciated.
