Shijingshan District, named after "Shijingshan, the first immortal mountain in Yandu (another name of Beijing)", is one of the central districts of Beijing. It is located in the western extension of Chang'an Street, only 14 kilometers away from Tian'anmen Square, with a total area of 84.38 square kilometers and a resident population of 564,000 people. With a green coverage rate of 54.62%, Shijingshan district enjoys the reputation of "half landscape, half city", and is the first district to be awarded the title of "National Forest City" in Beijing's central urban area.

Shijingshan District emerged and thrived due to industrial development. As the birthplace of modern industry in the capital, it was established to serve the "Eight Major Manufacturers in Western Beijing" represented by Shougang Group, creating remarkable achievements in modern industry and writing a magnificent epic of industrial history in new China. In 2005, with the shutdown of Shougang's No. 5 blast furnace as a symbol, Shijingshan District took the lead in the dissolution of non-capital functions and embarked on a path of reduction and transformational development in the city. In 2010, with the comprehensive shutdown of the Shougang Group's steel-related industries, Shijingshan District seized the opportunity of hosting the Winter Olympics and building a landmark for the revival of the capital city in the new era to accelerate the transformation of the region. After more than a decade of unremitting efforts, the ratio of the secondary and tertiary industries has changed from 7:3 to nearly 1:9, with the tertiary industry accounting for 89.1%. The former industrial rust belt has transformed into a showcase for urban vitality and a service-oriented livable district. Due to the remarkable results of transformation and development, it has been commended five times by the State Council for its pragmatic implementation of old industrial base adjustments and renovation.

In 2023, the proportion of the tertiary industry in the district reached 89.1%, of which the modern financial industry realized a revenue of 124.49 billion yuan; The software and information technology service industry achieved a revenue of 127.22 billion yuan, the total amount of which jumped to the third place in the city, and the growth rate ranked first in central urban areas. The gross regional product reached 107.48 billion yuan, an increase of 7% year-on-year; The revenue of the district-level general public budget reached 8.02 billion yuan, an increase of 8.7% year-on-year; The investment in fixed assets reached 46.09 billion yuan, an increase of 4.6% year-on-year.

Shijingshan District adheres to the industrial transformation as a strategic support for the economic work of the whole region. In 2023, the revenue of high-end, cutting-edge, and sophisticated industries reached 316.13 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 13%. Currently, to meet the requirements of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, Shijingshan District is optimizing its modern industrial system, consolidating and expanding the two hundred-billion-level leading industries of modern finance and information technology, and laying a solid foundation for industrial development. It vigorously fosters characteristic industries such as science fiction, industrial Internet, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality industries to develop a new engine for transformation and development. Meanwhile, it makes forward-looking plans for future industries such as information, manufacturing, space, and healthcare industries, aiming to nurture new quality productive forces and accelerate the establishment of an industrial development pattern that includes leading, distinctive, and future-oriented sectors.
