Let’s set sail for The Canal Arts Fest!
The Grand Canal of Beijing-Hangzhou has witnessed numerous significant historical events, bearing a rich cultural legacy and reflecting the exchanges and integration of Chinese culture with the world. Canals globally serve not only as vital hydraulic engineering and commercial routes but also as links fostering cultural and economic connections between different regions. After absorbing distinctive civilizational achievements of various local and ethnic cultures along its route, Canal culture, characterized by exchange, openness, integration, and progress, embodies a vibrant example of the shared future of humanity.
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Grand Canal’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage site, artists around the globe will gather in Beijing to inaugurate the 2024 Beijing International Canal Arts Fest. From October 2 to 4, let’s meet at Funstown in Chaoyang District, Beijing, to embark on a journey to explore canal culture and revel in a global art extravaganza.
Sound of Canal — 12+1 World Arts Feast
On the outdoor music stage, artists from 12 canal-bordering countries will bring their unique ethnic rhythms to join Beijing musicians in a three-day global art celebration. The melodious strains of traditional folk music will evoke the gentle sway of willow branches by the canal; the graceful folk dances will shimmer like the rippling waters of the canal; and the energetic performances by pop bands will echo the canal’s vibrant pulse.
You can experience the blend of Germany’s precision with Switzerland’s elegance, Thailand’s passion with Mexico’s exuberance, France’s romance with England’s sophistication, America’s innovation with Greece’s classical allure, Ecuador’s mystique with Australia’s natural beauty, and Russia’s depth with Colombia’s vitality—all on one stage! Domestic popular bands will also make a spectacular appearance to ignite the atmosphere!
Journey of Canal—One-Stop Multicultural Experience
In the cultural exhibition area, visitors can not only explore the grandeur of global canal cultures through exhibits but also appreciate Beijing’s central axis historical panorama and the unique features of the Grand Canal of Beijing-Hangzhou (Beijing section).
