[Sept 3 | Hybrid] GCC Knowledge Hub: Navigating Chinese and EU Sanctions – What Companies Need to Know

Date: Tuesday, 3rd Sept, 2024

Time: 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.

Location: German Centre Beijing, 11F DRC Liangmaqiao Diplomatic Office Building, Chaoyang, Beijing | MS Teams

Language: English

The geopolitical situation is getting increasingly difficult. In the meantime, the most important global players have issued a series of sanctions. For three years now, China’s Anti-foreign Sanctions Law has been in effect; and since then, additional Chinese measures have been issued. The US are continuously expanding their sanctions regime. Finally, on 24 June 2024 the EU has released new Russia related sanctions, which, for the first time, also address the behaviour of non-EU subsidiaries.

Companies and their Chinese subsidiaries are compelled to navigate in this difficult environment. Sometimes they feel sandwiched between contradictory requirements imposed from either side.

This event will shed light on the new sanctions regime and the related legal risks under Chinese law and EU law. It will enable companies to better assess their situation and provide recommendations to them.
